Join us at the St. Petersburg Museum of History October 29th, 2010 for The Tony Jannus Award Press Conference and AIAA Historic Aerospace Site Ceremony!
Overview:
For 47 years, the Tony Jannus Award has recognized extraordinary accomplishments in the field of commercial aviation. The award is given by the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society and is named in honor of the pilot of the first commercial airline flight, which flew from St. Petersburg to Tampa in 1914.
The Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society believes it is important to encourage students to further their education, not only for personal enrichment, but to keep business and the national economy thriving. The Society offers an annual scholarship program to young aviation enthusiasts and the Tony Jannus Essay Contest to spark aviation industry interest in grade-school students.
