December 3, 2006
The St. Petersburg Museum of History teams up with Ingleside Homeowners to bring Tampa Bay one of the most exciting neighborhood tours in the history of this city. At least 13 historic homes will be featured on Sunday, December 3rd when the community comes together to celebrate the wonderful Historic Holiday by visiting homes throughout the Ingleside Neighborhood. Supporters will have an opportunity to tour the homes, sample delicious foods and enjoy live entertainment during the holiday festivities for $35 pp. Funds raised from this event will benefit the Education Department at the Museum.
Where is Ingleside?
Ingleside Avenue is located two blocks west of the Dali Museum at Bayboro Harbor and directly south of All Children’s Hospital. Known as Eleventh Avenue from the late 20s, the original name was returned to the Avenue by residents in 2003.
What’s the Big Attraction?
Restoration and preservation are high on the agenda for two investors who have devoted time energy and effort in making this community better. Tom Barrett and Len Johnsen are the investors who have already purchased nearly 50 homes in that area and who have convinced their neighbors to embrace the positive resurgence of the neighborhood. This redevelopment plan has established a strong assurance to the surrounding neighborhoods and to the City itself. Restoration of the Mayor Bradshaw House, at 609 Ingleside Avenue S, is currently the best-known aspect of this major reinvestment in neighborhoods just south of downtown St Petersburg.
